George enjoys teaching new birders the skills they need to know to get better at the sport George is an experienced professional teacher who takes each tour seriously like it were a class and teaches you your new birds. Over half his clients he guides are beginning birders, as the popularity of birding grows each year. As an experienced outdoor person he has the knowledge and experience to keep you safe and choose terrain and trails to suit your individual abilities. George also has a good background in first aid and rescue and he brings all of his skills to his birding tours. Too many bird guides have no first aid background or training, and too many birding lodges George has visited have no staff trained in first aid and have no equipment available for medical emergencies. Our tours are designed to be as safe as possible but should an emergency occur you are in good hands with Just Birding.
George is always looking for new birding horizons and travelling to the end of the road to
look for new birds. He does not spend his time lounging on a beach with a Margarita in hand. Instead he may be found in a remote village in the mountains of Bolivia where the campesinos throw rocks at gringos to discourage them from coming around. He has learned to live with being treed by Huanganas (White lipped Peccary) in the rainforest of Peru, being lost in the desert mountains of Bahia Brazil and meeting Grizzly Bears in the mountains of Alberta. Its all in a day’s birding for George.
Serious birders go to places non birders would never consider at all and George has experienced some wonderful adventures in the pursuit of those new birds and new worlds.
